Mastering Freight Shipping: A Guide to Reducing Adjustment Fees

Shipping freight can be a headache for any business, especially when you factor in the various fees and charges that come with it. Adjustment fees, in particular, can quickly add up and cut into your bottom line. But with a bit of preparation and knowledge, you can avoid these fees and streamline your shipping process.

Here are seven key considerations to keep in mind when shipping freight and how to effectively avoid card pie bounce bills.

1. Make sure the contact details of the shipping warehouse are correct

If the address or contact information of the shipping warehouse is incorrect/ambiguous, causing the carrier's driver to find the warehouse, an attempt fee will be charged.

Note: If the same repository address is shared by multiple companies, indicate the Pick up Dock number. Shipper Name needs to be the name of the shipping warehouse company, and Contact Name needs to be the name of the contact person. If the name of the warehouse company is not indicated, the carrier defaults to the residential pickup address and will charge an additional residential fee.

2. Prepare your cargo and book your truck

Make sure the shipping warehouse is ready for the goods, and then place an order to reserve the truck. If the goods are not prepared within the specified time and the driver comes without mentioning the goods, an attempt fee/dry run fee will be charged.

3. The way the goods are packed should meet the standards

To ensure that goods are safe and undamaged during transit, cargo packaging needs to meet the standards of carrier trucks. If the criteria are not met, the truck driver has the right to refuse to pick up the goods and charge the Attempt Fee.

Common reasons for refusal to pick up the goods:the goods are seriously out of the pallet, and the driver will refuse to pick up the goods in order to avoid damage caused by movement and crushing during transportation. (Pick-up is allowed in individual cases, but there will be a bounce bill later to charge for exceeding the pallet area.)

4. Ensure the authenticity of the volume and weight of the goods

The carrier usually calculates the shipping fee based on the weight and volume of the goods, and if the weight or volume of the goods does not match the real data, the carrier charges an additional Re-class Fee/ Re-weight Fee.

Note: If your goods are transported on pallets, take into account the weight and volume of the pallets. The weight and size of the pallet affect the overall weight and volume of the goods, which in turn affects the calculation of transportation costs. (The order should be filled in to standardize and confirm that the number of pallets is correct.)

5. Verify recipient information and avoid storage fees

Make sure that the recipient information is not classified. Storage fees will be incurred if the goods cannot be delivered and are stranded at the carrier's warehouse because of incorrect contact information of the recipient. Storage fees usually begin 48-72 hours after the recipient is not reached, and free storage periods and storage fees vary by carrier.

6. Whether you need to make an appointment with the recipient for a Delivery Appointment

Additional charges may apply if you require the carrier to schedule a delivery with the recipient in advance. The exact cost depends on the carrier. Usually, residential addresses require advance notice of the delivery time from the carrier; Business addresses, which the carrier will not notify in advance.

7. Understanding the Restrictions on Cargo Transportation (Lift Plate Life Gate)

The load-carrying capacity of the truck lift plate is limited, which means that it cannot be overweight or old when unloading.

Oversized goods are placed on the lifting plate, otherwise, it may cause damage to the lifting plate or cause An 97

Full risk. Usually, the truck lift plate is 48 inches long and 92 inches wide. Therefore, if the height or length of the goods (including pallets) exceeds 92 inches, the lifting plate cannot be used, and the recipient must be notified in advance to bring his own forklift, or ask for human assistance.

By keeping these considerations in mind, you can reduce adjustment fees and simplify your freight shipping process. Remember to communicate clearly with your carrier and be proactive in preparing your goods and information to ensure a smooth delivery process.
